"How much does a website cost in Dubai?" is the first question almost every business owner asks us โ and the hardest one to get a straight answer to. Search for it and you will find agencies quoting anything from a few hundred dirhams to six figures, usually with no explanation of what separates them.
This guide breaks down what actually drives the price, what you should expect to pay at each level in 2026, and where businesses most often waste money. We have been building websites for UAE businesses since 1999, and the pattern behind the numbers is consistent.
The short answer
For a small-to-medium business website in the UAE in 2026, the realistic market range is roughly:
- Template-based brochure site (3โ7 pages): AED 1,500 โ 5,000
- Custom-designed business website (8โ15 pages): AED 5,000 โ 20,000
- E-commerce store: AED 12,000 โ 60,000+ depending on catalogue size and integrations
- Large custom build / web application: AED 60,000 upwards
These are market ranges across UAE providers, not a quote. Our own current package pricing is published on our web design packages page โ we would rather you compare real numbers than guess from a blog post.
What actually drives the price
1. Template vs custom design
This is the single biggest factor. A pre-built theme adapted to your brand takes days. A custom design โ wireframes, revisions, a layout built around your specific services and conversion goals โ takes weeks. Both can produce a good website. Only one produces a website that looks like nobody else's.
If budget is tight, a well-chosen template executed properly beats a cheap "custom" build rushed by someone learning on your project.
2. Number of pages, and how different they are
Ten pages that share one layout cost far less than ten pages that each need their own. When you get a quote, ask how many unique templates are included, not just how many pages. That is where the work actually sits.
3. Content: who writes it
The most common cause of a stalled web project in Dubai is not design or code โ it is content. If you supply finished copy and images, you save money and weeks. If the agency writes your copy, expect to add meaningfully to the cost, and expect it to be worth it if they understand your market.
Budget separately for professional photography. Stock images of generic offices are the fastest way to make a UAE business look like every other UAE business.
4. E-commerce complexity
An online store is not "a website plus a shopping cart". Price scales with product count and variants, payment gateway integration, delivery and shipping rules, VAT handling, and whether it must sync with existing stock or accounting systems. A 20-product store and a 2,000-product store are different projects. Our e-commerce website development page covers what each tier involves.
5. Languages
Adding Arabic is not a translation line item. Right-to-left layout means mirroring the entire interface โ navigation, forms, icons, spacing โ and testing it as a separate design. Done properly it is close to a second build of the front end. Done as an afterthought it looks broken, and in a market where a large share of searches are in Arabic, that is costly in a different way.
6. Integrations
CRM, booking systems, payment gateways, ERP, WhatsApp Business API, courier APIs. Each one is scoped work. Each one is also where unexpected costs appear mid-project, so get them listed explicitly in the quote.
The costs people forget
The build is a one-off. Running the site is not. Annual costs to plan for:
- Domain registration โ modest, but it is a yearly renewal and losing it is expensive. See domain registration for how .ae and .com differ for a UAE business.
- Web hosting โ varies widely with traffic and whether you need UAE-local servers. Our web hosting page explains what actually matters versus what gets marketed.
- SSL certificate โ often bundled; confirm it is, and confirm it auto-renews.
- Maintenance and updates โ CMS, plugin and security updates. Unmaintained sites get compromised, and cleaning up a hacked site costs more than a year of maintenance.
- Backups โ ask where they are stored and how fast a restore is. "We have backups" and "we have tested restoring them" are different claims.
Why the cheapest quote usually is not
We are regularly asked to rebuild sites that were bought cheaply 12โ18 months earlier. The recurring reasons:
- No access handed over. No domain control, no hosting login, no CMS admin. The site exists but the business does not own it in any practical sense. Always get registrar, hosting and CMS credentials in writing at handover.
- Not built to be found. No heading structure, no meta descriptions, no internal linking, sometimes blocked from Google entirely. It looks fine and ranks for nothing. Fixing it afterwards costs more than doing it correctly โ see SEO services.
- Mobile as an afterthought. Most UAE traffic is mobile. A site that merely shrinks on a phone loses enquiries silently.
- No handover documentation. Nobody can edit anything without going back to the original developer, who may no longer be reachable.
What a good quote should tell you
Before you compare prices, make sure you are comparing the same thing. A quote worth trusting states:
- Number of unique page templates, not just page count
- Who writes the copy and who supplies the images
- Whether the design is custom or theme-based, and how many revision rounds are included
- Which CMS, so you know who else can maintain it later
- What happens to domain, hosting and SSL โ included or billed separately, and in whose name they are registered
- Mobile testing scope
- Basic on-page SEO: titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, sitemap, Search Console setup
- What post-launch support covers, for how long
- Timeline, with what is needed from you to hit it
- Ownership: confirmation that the finished site and its accounts are yours on final payment
If a quote is a single number with no breakdown, that is not a cheaper agency โ it is an unscoped project, and unscoped projects grow.
How to decide what you actually need
Work backwards from what the site has to do:
- Credibility only โ clients find you by referral and just want to check you exist. A well-built 5-page site is enough. Do not overspend here.
- Lead generation โ the site must bring enquiries. Now design, speed and search visibility all pay for themselves. This is where the mid-range budget belongs.
- Selling online โ revenue depends on the site working. Underinvesting is the expensive choice. Start with e-commerce development.
- Replacing a manual process โ bookings, quotes, portals. This is a web application, priced on functionality, not pages.
A realistic timeline
For a custom business website, expect 4โ8 weeks end to end. Roughly: discovery and sitemap (1 week), design (1โ2 weeks plus your review), build (2โ3 weeks), content population and testing (1 week), launch.
The variable is almost always content and feedback turnaround. Projects that run late usually do so waiting on the client, not the developer. If you have your copy and images ready before design starts, you will be at the fast end of that range.
Frequently asked questions
Is a .ae domain better than .com for a UAE business?
For a business trading primarily inside the UAE, a .ae domain is a genuine local signal and reassures UAE customers. If you sell internationally, .com travels better. Many businesses register both and redirect one. Either way, register the variants of your brand name before someone else does.
Do I need hosting on servers inside the UAE?
It helps, but it is usually not the deciding factor. Server location affects load time, and faster pages rank and convert better โ but a well-configured server elsewhere behind a CDN often beats a poorly configured local one. Ask about actual performance and uptime guarantees rather than location alone.
Can I update the website myself afterwards?
You should be able to. Insist on a CMS and a short handover walkthrough, and get it in writing that you receive admin access. If editing a phone number means emailing the developer, the build was not finished properly.
How much should I budget each year after launch?
Plan for domain renewal, hosting, SSL, and either a maintenance plan or time to handle updates yourself. The sum is modest next to the build cost, and skipping it is how sites get hacked or quietly break.
Why do two agencies quote such different prices for the same brief?
Usually because they are not quoting the same brief. One includes copywriting, custom design, SEO setup and a year of support; the other includes a theme and five pages. Use the ten-point checklist above and the gap normally explains itself.
How long before a new website appears in Google?
Indexing can happen within days once the site is verified in Search Console and a sitemap is submitted. Ranking competitively for terms like "web design dubai" takes months of content and authority building โ any agency promising page one in weeks is selling something else.
Getting a straight number for your project
Costs vary because requirements vary โ which is why a blog post can only give ranges. If you want an actual figure, tell us what the site needs to do and we will scope it properly: what is included, what is not, and what it will cost to run each year.
